Residency Requirement: There is a residency requirement for all applicants not currently employed by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. This residency requirement states that candidates must have, for three of the last five years immediately prior to applying for this position; (1) resided in the United States; OR (2) worked for the United States Government as an employee overseas in a Federal or Military capacity, OR (3) been a dependent of a U.S. Federal or Military employee serving overseas.
Supervisory/Managerial Probationary Period: You may be required to serve a twelve-month probationary period upon appointment to this position. You may also be required to complete an appropriate supervisory training course within one year of assignment to this position.
QualificationsThe qualifications for this position must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 06/03/2024.This position is with the United States Citizenship and Immigrations Services located in sunny Jacksonville, FL, which is a part of the Field Operations Directorate. The Jacksonville Field Office is also a part of the S23 Sunshine District in Florida. The other field offices within S23 are Tampa, Orlando, Fort Myers, and West Palm Beach. Jacksonville is located on the Atlantic coast of northeastern Florida. The field office is only minutes away from several Atlantic beaches. Jacksonville is in Duval County, which is the northern most county in Florida. Jacksonville is a great place to live, thanks to the excellent weather, beach access, sports venues, incredible restaurants, and its affordability. Jacksonville is ranked the number 16th place to live in the country.
Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service. The Time-in-Grade requirement must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 06/03/2024.
GS-13: You qualify at the GS-13 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the federal government, that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the following duties:
Making final determinations on difficult and sensitive immigration benefits cases that are discretionary, precedent-setting, highly visible, and are of great importance to the agency;
Rendering immigration benefits decisions that have substantial impact to a wide range of agencies at the federal, state and local levels;
Analyzing new immigration benefits regulations and complex technical amendments as well as procedures for making final determinations on applications/petitions for immigration benefits.
