Arsenal are set to sign Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia "soon" according to The Mirror.

The Spanish u-21 star is valued at £21million.

Garcia played 21 times for Espanyol last year as they earned promotion to LaLiga.

Arsenal have signed 18-year-old keeper Lucas Nygaard.

On joining Arsenal, he said: “I’m really pleased to finally be here. I have a good feeling in my stomach. As you all know, Arsenal is a big football club & I was really happy when my Dad told me there was some interest & I was going here on trial.

“I’m a modern goalkeeper who likes to play with my feet. I’m also good on the line, making great saves. I played for FC Nordsjaelland who also like the goalkeeper to play a lot, so they did a great job developing me.

“I’ve chosen Arsenal because I could see they like to play out from the back & that feels really good. The people around the club have been really good, so it wasn’t a hard decision. I’m looking forward to playing games again & winning a lot of games next season while developing.”

Arsenal and Manchester City are still tipped to weigh up making approaches for Newcastle main man Bruno Guimaraes.

The Brazil midfielder's £100million release clause has expired - but the Toon might not yet be off the hook.

Arsenal and City could still reportedly consider bidding for a 26-year-old they rate at around £80m.

The Maribor forward has opened up about his battles with depression in the past, which almost led him to retire in 2022.
