    Gunners sign academy keeper

Arsenal have signed 18-year-old keeper Lucas Nygaard.

On joining Arsenal, he said: “I’m really pleased to finally be here. I have a good feeling in my stomach. As you all know, Arsenal is a big football club & I was really happy when my Dad told me there was some interest & I was going here on trial.

“I’m a modern goalkeeper who likes to play with my feet. I’m also good on the line, making great saves. I played for FC Nordsjaelland who also like the goalkeeper to play a lot, so they did a great job developing me.

“I’ve chosen Arsenal because I could see they like to play out from the back & that feels really good. The people around the club have been really good, so it wasn’t a hard decision. I’m looking forward to playing games again & winning a lot of games next season while developing.”

All his four senior caps have come since June this year and he's impressed at the Euros.

Calafiori notched an assist as Italy squeezed into the last 16 of the Euros with a last-gasp 1-1 draw with Croatia.

Sporting could be loser over Viktor

Viktor Gyokeres is emerging as Arsenal’s top strike target

Arsenal & City still loom over Guimaraes

Arsenal and Manchester City are still tipped to weigh up making approaches for Newcastle main man Bruno Guimaraes.

The Brazil midfielder's £100million release clause has expired - but the Toon might not yet be off the hook.

Arsenal and City could still reportedly consider bidding for a 26-year-old they rate at around £80m.

Guimaraes has won 22 caps and is in the best form of his life since the Magpies converted him into a more all-round player with huge physical presence.

Newcastle are almost certain to resist selling the ex-Lyon ace.

And especially as he is said to be content with life as well as his form, a move appears unlikely.
